*Hourly rates are charged on the basis of tachometer time,
NOT "Hobbs time".
When
you are charged Hobbs time for an airplane, from the minute
that you turn the master switch on until you turn it off
you are paying a minute for every minute that passes on your
watch. When you are charged tach time for an airplane, a
minute only equals a minute when the tachometer is at cruise
rpm or higher. What this means in the real world is that
your warm-up and taxi time are chaged at a slower rate. Generally,
you will see between 1.2 to 1.4 hours pass on your watch
for every hour of tach time. So when you fly the Club's 172
for instance, instead of paying $85 for every hour that passes
on your watch, you will in reality be paying somewhere between
$70 and $80 for every hour that passes on your watch, depending
on whether you are doing touch and goes or cruising along
on your way to Florida.
Unlike most FBO rentals, no Club member in recent history
has been charged anything but actual flying time when keeping
one of the Club aircraft away from Chattanooga overnight
or for several days. While the Moccasin Flying Club's RULES
AND REGULATIONS allow for a minimum daily charge of two hours
flying time, the Board of Directors have agreed that this
rule will not be enforced unless someone takes advantave
of this policy (for example, keeping the aircraft away for
an extended period with only an hour or two of flying time
elapsed).
Our club utilizes a very user friendly on-line scheduling
system. Each club member can schedule an aircraft, place
standby reservations, view aircraft maintenance status and
see a roster of fellow club pilots on-line. If you are traveling
and internet access is not available you can always call
a toll free number to schedule our aircraft.
